Witton Barracks, the recently refurbished WWII site in Brisbane’s inner west, is opening its doors to the public on Saturday 31 August to host a community open day with a range of markets, entertainment and food onsite.
The family-friendly event will take place from 9.30am to 2.00pm and promises a vibrant celebration of community and social enterprise. Everyone is invited!
Witton Barracks: A hub for innovation and community spirit
Since White Box Enterprises took over the management of Witton Barracks earlier this year, the site has become a dynamic space for community engagement and social enterprise. The transformation of this unique WWII site into a thriving community hub reflects White Box Enterprises’ commitment to fostering inclusive employment and innovative solutions.
An invitation to explore and celebrate
The Witton Barracks Open Day, proudly sponsored by Brisbane City Council, Westpac Foundation and GoodPeople, will be a day of fun and discovery for the entire family.
It will feature activities for all ages, including history tours from Brisbane Greeters, food stalls, live music and free activities for kids including, a bouncy castle, face painting and magic show.
There will also be a vibrant social enterprise market showcasing stalls from renowned social enterprises including Hello Good World, Sobah, Trade Mutt, Art Worthy, and Fruit2Work selling a range of products from fresh fruit and veg boxes and non-alcoholic beer, to homewares, art and jewellery.
The first 100 people to visit the White Box Enterprises stand and sign up to the Witton Barracks newsletter on the day will receive a $10 voucher to spend at one of the participating stalls.

White Box Enterprises CEO Luke Terry said the team was excited to open the doors of Witton Barracks to the local community.
