A Four Week Beginners Drawing Class & Workshop with SUN SISTA, Artist & Creative

There is something quietly powerful about picking up a pencil and simply beginning. This free community workshop is an invitation to do exactly that. Whether you have never drawn before or haven’t picked up a pencil since childhood, you are welcome here exactly as you are.

This isn’t about drawing “correctly.” It’s about giving yourself permission to slow down, pick up a pencil, and see what happens. For Sun Sista, creating isn’t just something nice to do on the side. It’s how she stays well, and she wants to share that with her community.

Over four weeks, you will be gently guided through hands on exercises designed to build confidence, presence, and connection to your own creativity. Every handout and a specially made workbook will be provided, so all you need to bring is yourself and a few simple materials.

WHAT TO BRING

A set of graphite pencils, ranging from soft to hard, so you have room to shade and blend. A ready-made set makes this easy.

From Officeworks, the Faber Castell Graphite Sketch Set is a lovely option. It includes eight pencils from 2H through to 6B, along with a sharpener and eraser, for $12.00

From Kmart, a simple twelve-piece Sketching Pencil set covering the same tonal range is available for $4.00

A soft eraser, if your set does not already include one. Both stores carry basic vinyl and rubber erasers for a couple of dollars.

A sketchbook or plain paper, entirely of your choice. I am happy to suggest a budget friendly option if that would help.

Altogether, materials will cost, this is a small one-off investment of your choice. Everything else is offered freely, as part of this community wellness practice.

This event is hosted at Witton Barracks, a beautiful and unique event space and social enterprise hub committed to giving back to the local community. It is a space with heart and the perfect setting for community to gather and learn.
