Full Moon Medicine Drumming Circle
MOON MEDICINE
We gather as the divine feminine and masculine energies, in a safe, open, and deeply held space. This is a sacred circle where real conversation happens. Where the masks come off and the performance stops.
This is the one we wait all year for. The Hunter’s Moon, also known across old folklore as the Blood Moon, the fullest and most potent moon of our whole cycle together. Under her light we turn toward what runs in our blood. The lineage we carry, the ancestors who walked before us, the inherited patterns we’ve mistaken for our own personality, and the strength that has been passed down to us whether we’ve claimed it yet or not. We will be having a discussion on ancestral bloodlines and what it means to honour where you come from while still choosing, consciously, what you carry forward and what you let end with you. What has been passed down to you that was never actually yours? What strength runs in your blood that you haven’t fully claimed?
We open seated together in circle with ceremonial tea. It warms the blood, quite literally, and steadies the body as we speak what is often left unspoken about family, lineage, and inheritance. We will sit with it and name what we are here to honour, and what we are here to close.
As the circle opens fully, we rise into shamanic drumming, a call and response journey held by shamanic medicine drums, rattles, and voice. This is ancestral work in motion. There is nothing to get right and nothing that needs to look a certain way. The drumbeat is the oldest heartbeat there is, and it has been used for thousands of years, across every bloodline and every culture on earth, to call the ancestors in, to honour the dead, and to move inherited grief and inherited strength alike through the body.
Drumming works on a level words can’t reach. A sustained rhythmic beat entrains the brain toward theta states, the same threshold state found in trance and deep meditation, where the boundary between what is personal and what is ancestral starts to soften. Research on rhythmic drumming points to real drops in cortisol and real shifts toward parasympathetic calm, but on a Blood Moon the medicine goes further than the body in the room. This is the night the veil between generations feels thinnest. The drum becomes a bridge, not just for you, but for everyone who came before you and everyone who will come after.
When the drumbeat meets the emotional openness of the circle, and the pull of the Blood Moon itself, the body often releases what it has carried for far longer than one lifetime. People describe feeling grief that isn’t fully their own finally move, a sudden clarity about a family pattern they’re ready to close, a fierce strength rising up from somewhere old, or a deep, wordless sense of being held by everyone who came before them. Whatever comes up is welcome. It is all part of the medicine.
Please bring a yoga mat or something to sit on, a journal and pen, water, and wear clothing you can move freely in. If you feel called, bring a photo of an ancestor, a family object, or something that represents your lineage. We’ll have a moment in the circle to acknowledge it and to name what you are choosing to carry forward.
This circle is open to all. Wherever your bloodline began, whatever runs through you, you are welcome here exactly as you are.
With love,
SUN SISTA 🌙
